Bladeless LASIK

LASIK surgery is an extremely safe and effective procedure to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. As one of the most highly trained and experienced LASIK surgeons in America, Dr. Thomas Byrd performs all-laser LASIK, which offers a range of benefits over LASIK with a blade. Additionally, we use some of the most advanced pieces of technology available to help us achieve optimal results.

PRK Surgery

A precursor of LASIK, photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) surgery can correct mild cases of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. After creating a detailed model of your eye, Dr. Byrd will completely remove the outer layer of your cornea. Next, he will adjust corneal tissue and place a protective contact lens over the eye to wear during recovery, which typically takes about one week.

LASIK vs. PRK

LASIK and PRK are both excellent options that can reduce or eliminate your dependence on corrective lenses. LASIK offers shorter recovery times and typically delivers stabilized eyesight faster, while PRK is often chosen by patients with thin corneas, as it can allow Dr. Byrd access stromal tissue better. Choosing the right treatment depends on your unique requirements and goals.
